Dot NAME Domains

Set up in 2001, the Dot NAME TLD is the single TLD meant for personal websites only. These domain names can be personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. Initially, solely third-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered 3rd-level domains remained running.
